Rebecca Ayala Obituary

“Our community sadly lost a pillar on Monday August 23, 2021 , when Rebecca “Becky” Sykes-Ayala unexpectedly passed at the age of 53.

Becky came into this world on July 31, 1968 in Jacksonville, TX to the late Frank B. Sykes, Jr and Yolanda Treviño Luna. She was raised in Gonzales, TX where she graduated from Gonzales High School in 1986. It was in her youth where she developed her love for sports. She was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan as well as the biggest supporter of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Her contributions to our communities include being an active parishioner of the Catholic Community of Gonzales and Waelder, Mayor of the City of Waelder, private funder and host for local back to school initiatives, and volunteer for various youth organizations to promote education.

Becky was a giver of all things without expectations in return. All those who knew her were either counseled, advised, or assisted by her through any means necessary to aid in their troubles. She was the largest family-oriented individual who loved her family above all things.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years Richard Ayala, Jr; their three daughters Amanda Walker & husband Brandon Walker, Geralyn Ayala & husband Javier Amaro, and Angelica Ayala; their grandchildren Alaya & Brandon Walker, August Amaro, and Kamdon & Kaison Ayala; her 5 siblings, their spouses,  and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved beyond words. She is predeceased by her grand parents Frank B. Sykes, Sr. & Ruth Vara Sykes and Genaro Treviño & Estella Navarro Treviño; parents Frank B. Sykes, Jr, Yolanda Treviño Luna, and Ruben Luna; aunts Brenda Becerra, Michele Molina;l, and Delilah Alva; uncle Harry Treviño; niece Kayden Ramon.
