RAUL CONTRERAS, SR.

Raul Contreras was born and raised in Gonzales, Texas on September 4, 1950 to Pedro and Jesusa Sanchez Contreras.  He passed away on November 20, 2020 at the age of 70.  He attended school in Gonzales and graduated.

He left Gonzales after graduation and moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he stayed for many years.

Raul loved to work on cars, go fishing and making everyone laugh.  He was known as one of the best mechanics around the area.  If you needed your car fixed, just call on Raul.

His passion was spending time with his family, especially when he came back home to Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Contreras, Jr. and Jesusa Sanchez Contreras, daughter; Kristi Lynn Contreras, brother; Esuebio Contreras, and sisters; Josefine Contreras and Yolanda Contreras.

He leaves cherish his memory, one daughter; JoLanda Sue Rodriquez (Joey) of Gonzales, their children; PFC Devin R. Contreras and Dylan A. Rodriquez.  Sons; Raul Contreras, Jr. from Gonzales, Landon (son Eli), James and Kevin Contreras all from Grand Junction, Colorado. Step sons; Fred and Benjamin Barker, Brothers; Abel Alex, Pete and Rando Contreras (Betty Jo) of Gonzales. Sisters; Cindy DeLos Santos (Sam) of San Marcos, Rosa Smith (Jay) of Seguin and Carolina Contreras of Gonzales.  Eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raul spent the last months of his life back home in Texas, where he was surrounded by his loving family.  Especially his brother Rando and sister in law Betty Jo.

His wishes were to be cremated.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2020.
