Mattie Ruth Ford was born August 30, 1946 in Gonzales County to Lawrence J. and Betty Mae Johnson. She departed this life on August, 2020. She attend school in Gonzales, Texas
Mattie was employed in several places. She was a housewife and caretaker for her family. She loved cooking and loved music. She loved her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of the Rock Church in Gonzales, Texas under Pastor Carolyn Bolden and Elder Lloyd Bolden. Mattie was the mother of the church. She was a Christian woman of God and enjoyed praise and worship. Mattie just loved being in the presence of the Lord. Her favorite scripture was John 9:4; I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night cometh, when no man can work.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Brothers; Lawrence M. Johnson, Robert R. Johnson, Roger Johnson, Johnny B. Johnson and Otis Johnson. Sisters; Vivian McNeil, Grace Bates, Annie Bell Eleby, and Evelyn Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory; husban, Clayton Ford, three sons; Henry Garner(Lisa) Lawrence L. Garner and Clinton Garner (Valeria). One daughter; Pastor Elouise Ford Nation (Jason); AKA, Neva Ford Nation. One brother; Cecil Johnson, Sr. One sister; Betty Jean Johnson. Eight (8) grandchildren, nine (9) great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and many friends.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Union Lea Missionary Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas. Interment will be at the Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery.
