OBITUARY
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Anthony Johnson (Benl), age 55, on March 27, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Gonzales, Texas on December 2, 1969, to the late Walter Johnson, Sr. and Annie Eula Jackson Johnson.
He was a member of the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
He graduated from Gonzales High School where he participated in football, basketball, track, and FFA. He began working at the Gonzales livestock at an early age and continued working in stockyards in surrounding areas as well as Circle T Motors.
Michael had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He always had a contagious smile.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Eula Jackson Johnson, and a special aunt Josephine Lamkin. Brothers, Walter Johnson, Jr. (Caroline), James Johnson (Olga), Larry Johnson (Yvette), Robert Johnson (Esther) of San Antonio, Texas, Calvin Mayberry (Karen), Ray Mayberry (Trish), Roy Johnson (Teri) of Gonzales; Sisters, Marsha Murray, Eulaine Johnson, Mae Johnson, Jackie Staton Johnson of Gonzales and Laura Porter of Austin, Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Johnson, Sr., uncle, Roy Lester Johnson, Brother, Ronnie Jackson, Brother-in-Law, Jackie Wayne Stanton; Great niece Onxy Jones Johnson; Paternal Grandparents, Willie and Emma Johnson, and Maternal Grandparents, Julius and Ethel Jackson.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 19, 2025, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Services are under the care and direction of Harris Funeral Home.
