MAXINE CARTER Obituary

Maxine was the eldest of four children born to Levy Lee and Matie B. Cochran.  She grew up attending school in the Gonzales area.  She graduated from Gonzales High School.

After graduating from High School, she moved to Austin, Texas, and married Preston Carter, Jr. To this union, one child was born, Tanya Carter.

Maxine worked for the Texas Water Quality Board for 11 years. She joined the staff of the State Comptroller's Office, where she worked for many years.

She then relocated to Alvin, Texas, where she worked for Singer-Link, an independent contractor for NASA.  She lived there for 20 plus years before returning home to be closer to family.

She was an amazing gook and loved baking, especially homemade rolls and cakes. If you were able to get your hands on one of those big, fluffy yeast rolls, you were lucky. They always disappeared quickly.

Maxine passed away peacefully at the age of 76 at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Center.

She leaves to cherish the memories of their time together her mother, Mattie Hansford; daughter, Tanya, two sisters, Dorothy Ellison and Faye Cochran, Two Nieces, Vicky and Kim Ellison, and two great nephews, William Ellison and Dasean Carrington. Two aunts, Dorothy and Maggie Barnes, and numerous cousins and friends.
