FREDDIE LEVAN BRAZIL

Freddie Levan Brazil was born on November 14, 1955, to Betty J. Manley and Rufus Brazil. He was raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he attended Daytona Beach High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Army, in which he served nine years.  For 10 years, he worked for the Guadalupe Electrical Company. Upon his health declining, he fulfilled his dream of being a truck driver for Tyson Chicken, which became the company to eventually retire him.

Freddie Brazil married the love of his life, Linda Brazil on December 12, 1978, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. To this union, he gained three children; Barbara Ann Cray (preceded in death);  Kinard Cray Jr. of Houston, Texas; and Gordon R. Mack Jr. of Austin, Texas. Out of these three children, he also gained five grandchildren; Keenen Mack, Keewaun Mack, Kyrese Mack, Kynesha Mack, and Rheya Cray.  Freddie's children and grandchildren remember him for his resilience, strength, his sound wisdom, and wise counsel. 

Deacon Brazil was a faithful and active member of Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church of Gonzales, Texas, for over 40 years. Oftentimes, he would be the first to arrive and the last to leave - a true servant of Christ. At Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, he served in multiple capacities, such as the Head of the Deacons Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Baptist Training Union (B.T.U.), and in addition, he taught Vacation Bible School. Not only that, but Deacon Brazil found joy in singing in his church choir, and driving the church bus, which further ensured that all had a way to the house of the Lord. 

Freddie Brazil is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Ann Cray, and his father, Rufus Brazil. Deacon Brazil is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Sue Brazil; his mother, Betty J Manley of Florida, and children; Kinard Cray Jr., Gordon R. Mack Jr, Kimberly Mack Daughter in Law., and five grandchildren; Keenen Mack, Keewaun Mack, Kyrese Mack, Kynesha Mack, and Rheya Cray. He is also survived by his sisters; Carol James Smith of Daytona Beach, Florida; Nadine Franklin Greg of Groveland, Florida; and Margie Manley of Daytona Beach, Florida. Brother Jessie Manley, Jr, of Daytona Beach, Florida. Two special brothers and Friends Bryan Polk of Gonzales, TX, and Quincy Johnson of Gonzales, TX.

There are a host of family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory, a host of nieces and nephews of Daytona beach Florida relatives and coworkers, classmates, and church members.
