HER LIFE JOURNEY
Ms. Florence Jean Eleby was born on November 21, 1949, in Gonzales, Texas, to Cella Dixon and Tommie Dora. Florence spent her early years in Wrightsboro, Texas, Gonzales County.
She later moved to the city of Gonzales with her family.
Florence attended Edwards High School and graduated in 1967. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. We ask that you remember her for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Florence accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Gonzales, Texas. During her membership at the church, in her later years, she was a choir member, attended mission faithfully, a member of Sunday School Class, and a teacher for Sunday School
After graduating from High School, Florence became a licensed beautician, graduating from Hicks Beauty School
Florence was united in Holy Matrimony to John Eleby, and to their union four children were born: Chelsa, John John, Justin, and Joey.
Florence later moved to Houston, Texas, and continued to work as a beautician. She had a strong love for God, her family, and friends. Moving back to Gonzales, she was employed at Walmart for many years until her health declined.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Cella Johnson and Tommie Dora, stepdad, Bill Johnson, two sisters, Helen Washington and Raynell Johnson, and brothers: Billy, Robert, and David. Two children: Chelesa and Justin.
Florence leaves to cherish her memories; two sons, John John and Joey and Poolum, two sisters, Linda Cain (Ike), San Antonio, Texas, Patricia Kincaid (Gregory), Austin, Texas, one brother, Darryl Johnson (Kim), two aunties: Agnes McCoy (Georgetown, Texas), Betty Jean, Gonzales, Texas, one uncle, Cecil Johnson, grandkids, Keantra, Khelsea, Kedrick and host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends, Phyliss, Hetha, Myrna, Marie, Gregory, Tommy R., Pam, Houston, Texas.
