Elsie San Miguel Obituary

Elisa “Elsie” Contreras San Miguel, 80, of Gonzales, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2020.  She was born in Luling, Texas on September 23, 1940, to Maximo and Prudencia Contreras. On June 2, 1959 she married the love of her life Martin Molina San Miguel and together they raised their family in Gonzales. She made a living working at a few local daycares and later became certified to care for children in her home. She was well known as “Ms. Elsie” to many in her community for the career she had in childcare. Elsie loved singing, taking care of little ones, and spending time with her family. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church who always prayed her rosary and lit candles in prayer for anyone who was in need.

 

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Maximo and Prudencia Contreras, her loving husband, Martin M. San Miguel, and sister, Sylvia Cantu.  She is survived by her 3 sons, Martin San Miguel and wife Rita, Michael San Miguel and wife Erica, and Mark San Miguel, all of Gonzales. Grandchildren, Lucy Botello, Joe Maldonado, Steven San Miguel, Lisa San Miguel, Melissa Cuevas, Michael San Miguel II, Matthew San Miguel, and Mary San Miguel, her great grandchildren, Jason Navejar, Christopher Rodriguez, Joseph Botello, Ryan Botello, Sophia Botello, Jordan Maldonado, Kierstin Maldonado, Jesus Maldonado, Gavin Navarro, Janiya Sepulveda, and Jadus Sepulveda, and 2 great, great grandchildren, Jason Navejar Jr. and Juliette Navejar.
