David Johnson Obituary

Because God needed me much more, he came and took me home and all my work was done.

David Johnson was born March 1, 1954, in Gonzales, Texas to Cella and Robert Johnson. David went to be with the Lord Wednesday October 6, 2021, at the Methodist Texsan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. David Johnson graduated from Gonzales High School May of 1973.  He worked for the Parkview Nursing Home in Lockhart, Texas, Luling Care Center in Luling, Texas and the Texan Nursing Home in Gonzales, Texas as a CNA.

David grew up along with family at the Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.  Later he relocated his membership to the Antioch Baptist Church in Luling, Texas. He frequently visited all the churches in the community singing on musicals.  His favorite song was REDEEMED.

After graduating High School, he became a funeral attendant with the Kelly Funeral Home where he worked for 30 years.  David was a faithful, dependable, loving kind spirited person but that was his nature.  We all loved David and Gonzales will not the same without him.

About 20 years ago David started working for the Harris Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and was a dependable and faithful employee until his death.

Scripture John 9:4 says, I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day, when night cometh no man can work.  David was an excellent cook and loved to eat.  His life was also working in the healthcare industry. He loved people and would help in any way he could.  He had a strong faith in GOD and would often state the saying; I KNOW THAT’S RIGHT, GOD IS GOOD.

David is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Helen Washington, and Raynell Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, 3 sisters: Linda Cain (Ike) from San Antonio, Texas, Florence Eleby from Gonzales, Texas and Patricia Kincade (Gregory) from Austin, Texas. 2 Brothers; Darryl Johnson (Kim) and Robert Johnson (Patricia). 2 Aunts; Agnes McCoy and Jean Johnson and 1 uncle; Cecil Johnson. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, Antioch Church Family, Harris Funeral Home and Staff and many friends. Special thanks to his caretaker, Patricia Walker, Gonzales Dialysis Center, Doctors and Nurses that help him along the way.
