CHARLES GREATHOUSE Obituary

A Life Well Lived

Charles Franklin Greathouse was born December 19, 1940, in Gonzales, Texas, to Jack Greathouse and Jim Henry Irvin, both deceased.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.  He attended Edwards High School in Gonzales, Texas.  He married Vandy Ellen Beverly Lewis, and to this union, two children were born: Christine Latrice Greathouse and Terrance James Greathouse.

Charles was a dedicated ranch hand for David Finch, whose strong work ethic was evident from an early age. Raised with a deep appreciation for the ranching lifestyle, he spent much of his life working alongside horses and cattle, developing exceptional skill and knowledge of the land. Charles became well known for his talent in roping horses and cattle, earning numerous awards and recognition throughout the years.  His passion for ranching, commitment to hard work, and natural ability as a horseman earned him the respect and admiration of fellow ranchers, friends, and family alike. The values he embodied, perseverance, integrity, and dedication, will continue to inspire all who knew him.  He was a welder and owned his own fencing business.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jack Greathouse and Jim Henry Irvin Greathouse, brothers, Hiawatha Greathouse, Bill Greathouse, Zatra Greathouse, Emuil Greathouse, Sr, and Elvin Greathouse. Sisters, Nannie B. Allen, Lucille Armstrong, and Blair Dean Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, children: Christine Latrice Greathouse and Terrence James Greathouse (via marriage union), Siblings: Duncan Greathouse (Marilyn) of Houston, Texas, Irving Greathouse of Gonzales, Texas, Benny Ray Greathouse (Rebecca) of Blanco, Texas, and Burner Carter (Robert) of San Antonio, Texas. Godsons: Jermaine Brown and Kendrick (Dino) Brown. Special Friend: Lillie Johnson; Special great-niece: Genesis Greathouse.
